Wheeler Fun With "Boo"....

Karah turned 4 years old and it was time to once again meet together for our "Fun with Grandma and Papa" time. Our family tradition with the grandkids is to get together for a birthday activity for the weekend. Usually some fun place to visit and then a sleepover.
Special time just for her!

We had told April that we would be around to pick up "Boo" at about 11:00 or so that day. Well, we were running WAY behind because of all of the packing we needed to do to get ready for our campout with her as well as the trip up to Gary's cabin later that weekend. This poor little girl stayed out on their porch waiting for us for several hours with her backpack on and holding her little handbag. I had no idea how excited she was and that she would be out there just waiting, and waiting, and waiting. April said she watched as each car passed and would get excited if she saw one pass that looked like our car. Then she would get sad when she saw them just drive on by. WE ARE SOOO SORRY Karah! We'll make it up to you!

I had to take a picture of her on this play phone. When we arrived she was so excited. She pulled out her "play phone" and was pretending to talk with her friend on it. Telling her friend that she would have to cancel their appointment because she made other arrangements with her Grandma "T" and Papa Howie. Then she abruptly closed the phone, set it aside and said......Let's GO! She sounded so MATURE it cracked me up.

Before we left Lyssi showed us her little dance tutu...

She loved playing peek-a-boo with it

She has the cutest little giggle.
I wish I had video taped this.
She was a doll!

Oh yeah..... Just if you were wondering, my pictures on this posting as well as my next few postings will all look a bit blurry right smack dab in the middle. I guess I got a finger print on it when we were in Hawaii and I never noticed it until my daughter April pointed it out to me just a few days ago. EVERY LAST PICTURE from the month of July is BLURRY..... BUMMER!
Oh well I decided to post them anyway. Just know that it is not your eyesight going out. That is what I thought when I would view the pictures on my viewfinder. OH WELL!

All packed and ready to go....

Lyssi wants a picture with us too.....

All buckled in snug as a bug....

Click-it or Ticket Grandma "T"

Everytime I get in a car with Boo she reminds me to buckle up. Anyone who knows me knows that I can not stand wearing my seatbelt. It drives me BUGGY! Karah always catches me without it on and will bug me until I do. Even when I pretend to fasten it she will say... "I didn't hear it click Grandma T!" I think she is the only one in my life who has been able to get me to wear it. I'd do anything for this little angel!

Usually when we travel around with the grandkids we drive Howie's car because it has a CD player to watch movies on and the grandkids love it. When Karah realized there would not be a movie for this car ride she decided to pull out her little leapster and play video games. My school kids are so hooked on gameboys and video games it is crazy. Kids now-a-days seem so addicted to this type of technology. Much different from when I was a child! When I looked back and saw her concentrating on this leapster in much the same way as my students, it just made me realize how grown up she really is.

This year Karah chose to go to Wheeler Farm.

This is a farm in Murray not too far from where Howie and I grew up. We got there too late to ride the ponies or milk the cows but we had a fun time with all of the other animals.

Feeding the Cows.....

At first Karah kept her distance.....

She soon got more daring and moved closer to feed them until.....

The long BLUE tongue stretched out an licked her hand. She was GROSSED OUT!

Papa Howie got the baby calf to come over for a bite...
Now this is a safe distance from the stinky cows!

Grandma "T" with "BOO"

Hey look what we found.....

Papa Howie teaching her about "Cheezies"

These were things that grow on these weeds and you peel the outer part of them off and eat the inside seed thing. I thought I was the only one that knew about them so when I looked over and saw Howie explaining how to pick them and peel them I was shocked! YUMMY. That moment brought me back to my youth.

Feeding the Bunnies.....

All of the bunnies in the cages were sleeping when we saw them so Karah thought it would be a good idea to offer them a carrot to try to wake them up. The only problem is we did not have any with us.

Then she saw one sitting in the middle of the cage. Before long she had manuevered her little fingers around this small carrot and pulled it out from the bottom of the cage.

The rabbits still showed no interest. They were all snoozin' and would not come close enough to her.

Then she decided to reach from the bottom and stick the carrot in their face. TaDaaaa. It worked. This bunny nibbled on the carrot and Karah was just a gigglin' away!

Time for a Tractor Ride.....

When Karah saw the tractor pull up, her and Papa Howie took off running to get a seat.
"Hey, save a seat for me!"

The tractor ride was very relaxing and we were able to see a lot of the farm that I forgot was even there. Karah loved to pull leaves off the trees as we drove by and play "He loves me... He loves me more" with them.

Look Grandma.... I am taller than you!

Visit to the Pigs and Sheep......

She loved watching this pig sitting in this bucket of water. Oink, Oink, Oink

Dinner time for the sheep.....
They just buried their head in the straw and would hardly even look up at us.

Papa Howie explained what they do with the wool from the sheep. I love to listen to him interact with the grandkids. You can sure tell they love and adore him.

Papa and Boo...

Gathering Chicken Eggs.....

Next we visited the chicken coop....

Karah was not so sure about touching these....

But she did enjoy collecting the eggs.

Ride em' Cowboy....

Fun pictures on the saddle. The blacksmith shop was also closed so we were not able to see how they make horse shoes but it was fun playing on this saddle. Papa Howie knows how to make everything FUN!!!

Feeding the Ducks....

Across the way from the blacksmith shop is a pond where you can feed the ducks. Karah was excited to go into the little store and buy some bird food.

Before we could even catch up with her she had her bag and was running over to feed them.

Papa Howie got her up on a nearby stump so she would have a better view. The ducks and geese came right up to her. She was all giggles!

She also found if she threw the seeds out on the ground huge swarms of pigeons would fly over for a bite. I think she loved this even more than feeding the ducks.

I think this was her favorite part of the day. When her bag was empty she begged for us to get her more. It was very cute watching her go into the store by herself and buy another bag without any help. She is really growing up fast!

Well it is time to go for now but we promised to return soon to milk the cows and ride the ponies. Wheeler Farm..... we'll be back!

ONE MORE SPIN FOR FUN....AND WE'RE OFF!

We are now going to drive up to the mountains for our sleepover! YIPEE!
