Karah opened her new gift......
With a cool Barbie tackle box! WOW!
She first needed lessons from Grandma T on how to cast the line.
It was amazing how fast she caught on.
She practiced and practiced with her new pole
Howie got his pole ready for the trip down to the lake
After a few minutes of practice with her new pole Karah said she was ready to go try it out in the lake. Once I gathered up my stuff I started walking behind these two goofballs. They were skipping along the path singing "Follow the Yellow Brick Road". Wizard of Oz is one of Karah and Howie's favorite movies to watch together. You could hear there voices echoing through the trees and both of them were skipping. It was so STINKIN" CUTE!
I tried to capture them skipping and singing on my video but by the time I switched my camera over to video mode they had stopped. Oh well you can still see how cute these two are together.
Just about to the lake.....Hurry Papa Howie!
She thought it was cool that she had a chair just her size. She insisted on sitting down as she fished. I was pretty impressed to see her actually able to cast her line out while sitting. I know many adults who have a hard time with that!
Before too long she was wanting the "REAL STUFF" on her line. Howie took off her practice lure (butterfly) and put on some power bait.
Thanks Papa....
You're the BEST!!!!
It was fun to watch her excitement as she fished
She was entertained for HOURS!
I think I have a new fishin' buddy!
Anyne who knows me, knows how much I LOVE fishing and camping. It is great to be able to experience it with my young granddaughter. Can't wait till all of my grandkids can join us for a fishing trip. That would be a lot of fun.
Howie finally had a chance to get a line out into the water. He was running back and forth from the car to the lake, getting things we forgot and packing in our lunch supplies. Thanks Howie!
Forever memories with Boo.....
I had a bite on my line and Karah helped reel it in
She was excited until she actually saw the fish up close. For some reason she started backing up and acting a little afraid of it.
I showed her how it was just a baby fish (the size her daddy catches) ha ha ha
Nothing to be afraid of!
She was happy once we set it free.....
There was a group of people on both sides of us who were up having a family reunion. Their kids were all catching one fish after another. This kind gentelman in the grey sweatshirt (their grandpa) showed us his trick on how to fish Mirror Lake. Once I set my line up like he had his I cast my line out and had a bite instantly. It just happened that they caught the SAME fish. The fish ate BOTH of our lines. What a PIG!
Once this man untangled our lines and got the hooks out of the fish he brought it over to give Karah a closer look and to offer it to us. They had TONS but I told him he could keep it. It was a nice size fish for this lake. Lots of fish there but they are all minnow size. Fun place for the kids to fish.
Well it was time to leave and go up to Gary's cabin.
Just a few more shots of this pretty lake and this darling little girl
Howie and his fishing buddy.....
This whole trip Karah has wanted to help us out. This is just another example. She wanted to carry her chair to the car. She stuck it up on her head and started back.
It was a long walk back to the car but she kept on going......
We are almost there. You can see she is hammered but still wants to carry that chair. WOW! She is ONE TOUGH COOKIE!
I had one more video I have tried to download of her fishing in her chair. It is really cute. For some reason it won't come up on the screen. If I figure out the problem I will post it later.
Fishing was FUN!!!!

I was surprised at how good she could cast! She sure is growing up! I bet Kate wished she could fish too!
