Once we left Wheeler Farm it was off to the mountains......

This was going to be a long drive so I decided to bring my portable DVD player so Boo would have some entertainment. You can tell she is a bit tired from the fun at the farm because she is pulling on her ear. That is a sure clue.... She does that each time she gets ready to go to sleep.

A few minutes later it was really quiet so I looked back, (expecting to find her sound asleep) and she was underneath her blanket. After asking her what she was up to she responded with...."the sun is too bright for my movie! I need some darkness."

Then I look back and see her wearing her stylish sunglasses.

She was in a crazy silly mood this day.

"Katy" her bear had a turn to wear them also.
I love watching her play with this bear. I remember when she got it last year at her Birthday Date out with us. We had so much fun watching her as she made it at the Build a Bear Store. She drags this bear around everywhere.

Goofing off with her hat.....

You are
stylin' Howie......

It fits Katy the best!

As we got higher and higher up in the Uintah Mountains the scenery became more and more beautiful. We stopped at Bald Mountain Overlook (I think that is the name). It was gorgeous. (The picture didn't show up too well because of the finger print I had on my lense. Everything looks a bit blurry)

The sun was beginning to set..... And there was just a drizzle of rain. I hope the rain holds up until we get to camp and set up our tent!

As we stood there looking at the beautiful mountains Karah said, "Look over there.... It looks like the angels are coming to visit us" Everything in the sky was dark and gloomy and then the sun was just peeking out on the mountain tops. It DID look like glowing angels were coming. Hope Kaitlyn was one of them!

By the time we found a camp site it was quite dark.

We hurried and put up the tent with help from Karah

Making a fire was a much harder task because we had no wood yet and everything around us was WET! I just wanted to go play inside the tent BUT Karah was insisting on roasting marshmallows or "Burning marshmallows" as she would call it.

Howie worked on it and did not give up

Before long we were all dressed warm in our pj's and sat around roasting marshmellows. Karah learned how to roast them by SLOWLY turning the stick, instead of torching them to a coal black color. She soon became a pro and we gobbled up our smores and went in to set up beds in the tent.

Once inside the tent I could not believe how Karah went to work, Unzipping sleeping bags, arranging blankets and pillows.

Karah knew EXACTLY how she wanted things set up inside that tent.

Once things were "Just Right" she was ready to snuggle down to sleep with Katy

Before we actually went to sleep I told some SCARY stories to Howie and Boo. It was funny because she wanted me to tell them over and over again. I think it was her way of stalling. She does that at home too when she is not ready to go to sleep. Finally it was bed time.
Goodnight Papa Howie and Grandma T

The next morning was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

It had rained some that night but everything looked so crisp and clear (except in my picture)

At night we could not see how gorgeous this camp ground was. The Uintah mountains are unbelievable. I love the "Great Outdoors"

Karah waking up and checking out our spot
A morning hug from Papa Howie
Time to get out our stuff for breakfast
I love to watch these two together. She is like Steve's little shadow! Everywhere he goes.... She goes. She actually is a really good helper.

We decided to make pancakes in a bag. This is a trick I learned at a camp training meeting I attended one year. Just put your ingredients into the ziplock bag.....

Squish it around in your hands till it is all mixed. Then cut off one of the corners of the bag and squeeze out the batter onto the griddle. No mess! No cleanup! I love it!!!

As I made the pancakes Boo asked if she could set the table. I wondered why she set it for four people. Maybe because she has four in her family and that is what she does when she helps at home. Or maybe she set a place for her Bear Katy. Not sure why but she worked hard to make things JUST RIGHT! She loves detail. Everything has to be in just the right place. So cute!

Time to munch down. We ate and began to clean up when it started to rain. Big Downpours of RAIN. Our tent was now wet and we just sat in the car and waited for it to finally stop. I am glad it did because we had planned a fishing trip to the lake that day and I was pretty excited to see the sun pop it's little head out.
Another funny thing Karah said..... I had just mentioned to Howie that I wished the sun would come out from behind the clouds. Boo perks up and says, "Don't worry Grandma T. When the sun finishes his job shining on the other people in the world, he will come and shine on us" What a doll!
