Alyssa's Tonsils......

I am WAY, WAY, WAY Behind on posting things on my blog.  Hopefully I can catch up before the end of the year. I have been so busy with work that I am still stuck back on events that happened in the month of September.  YIKES!  Gotta get to work here before I forget what has happened in my life during the 2010 year.  Here goes.....

 

On September 2nd Alyssa was scheduled to get her tonsils removed.  April invited me to come along with her.  We had to arrive at Primary Children's Hospital in the WEE hours of the morning.

April is such a good little mommy.  She made arrangements with her work to stay at the hospital until she was finished with the surgery and then she would head back and I would take Lyss home to recover.

I love this girl....she is such a sweetheart!  Maybe I should say "THESE GIRLS"   I love them both so much!!

Primary's is such a fun place for kids.....Well maybe not for the "sick kids" but the play area looks like so much fun .

Alyssa was quite the little snuggle bug that day.  All smiles too!!

This girl LOVES story books.  Actually I think this was a sticker book April brought with us,  because I remember wearing a sticker she gave me,  all day in the hospital  :)

Open wide and say goodbye to those tonsils of yours!  They had sure given Lyss a hard time over the past few months.  It will be nice to get rid of em!

I can't believe how fast my grandaughter is growing.  She was acting so dang cute this morning.  "I'm a big girl now!"

Let's see how long this smile lasts today.  She has no idea what is about to happen to her in a few short minutes!

She was feeling pretty special in her "FANCY" new hospital clothes

Everything was going great until she got to the hospital slippers....She went from ALL SMILES to.....

GET THESE OFF OF ME!!!!    "I don't like these fancy clothes"  It was crazy how quickly her attitude changed. 

She got so worked up that when it was time for the nurse to take her to surgery they asked April if she felt that they should give her extra medication prior to taking her away, to eleviate her stress.  I can't remember the name of the drug that they gave to Alyssa, but it must have been a good one, because within a few short minutes of taking it she calmed right down and she became really looped.  She said in a groggy little voice, "Mom, I reeeeeally like this medicine!  Can we get some to take home with us?"   It really cracked us up!

The doctor laughed and said "I've never had a young patient request to take the medication home,  it is always the parents asking to take it home with them!"

The surgery went well it was nice that April was able to be there with her as she woke up.  She was NOT  a happy camper, that's for sure.  She was hysterical, screaming, yelling, thrashing around.  She wanted the IV tube removed and wanted OUTA THERE!  April was unable to calm her but once the mophine kicked in,  she calmed down in her mommy's arms, they let me come back and join them in her room.

She was WASTED!!!

She slept peacefully for quite some time after surgery.  April was able to do some work right there in the hospital room.  She has the best employer EVER!  How many people can still work while their daughter is undergoing surgery and recovering?  They are   GREAT PEOPLE at Fusion IO!

It was so cute to see her when she finally woke up...

She sat straight up in bed and asked "What just happened to me?"  I know that strange feeling you get after surgery, but for a child it must seem extra wierd.  One minute you are awake doing fine, and then you wake up in some strange bed, with wires hooked up to you.  She was soooo DOZED out!

It was so nice to watch April tenderly help your young daughter.  She is such a good little mommy!

Primary Children's Hospital truly caters to kids.  Even their food menu is kid friendly.  Everything a kid would ever want to eat!

April went ahead and ordered a bunch of food that she thought Lyssi would like.  Milk shake, pudding, chocolate milk, ice cream, popsicles......

It was so funny once it got delivered to the room,  Alyssa said in her scratchy little voice, "I don't want all of these snacks,  I WANT REAL FOOD!"  I think she was craving some good ole pizza or something like that  :)

She cuddled with mom for quite some time watching tv and just dozing in and out.

Lyssi enjoyed her new hospital toys I got her.  It was nice to get her mind off the pain of her throat.

It was finally time to get ready to go home.  We had originally thought that April would go back to work and I would take Lyssi home to rest, but April decided to spend the rest of the day with her daughter instead of returning to work.  She just couldn't leave her! GOOD CHOICE April.

The medicine was wearing off as we waited to be released.  This poor girl was in pain!!!!

I love to watch the bond between April and her daughter.  It melts my heart!  She never left her side the entire time.  You are the best APRIL!

Good bye Primary's Children's Hospital.  Thanks for taking such good care of my sweet granddaughter! 

Farewell to Twin Falls....

For the past year and a half Steve has been working for a man in Murray, SLC, and most recently in Twin Falls Idaho. 

I have had the opportunity to travel up to Idaho with Howie the past six months.  It has been very interesting observing "my man" in action.  I have loved the time we have been able to spend together.  He has taught me so much about the hearing aid business.  I am planning on getting licensed in the near future so it was a blessing to be able to watch and learn over the past few months. 

He worked in the Sears store in the"Magic Valley Mall"  I always got a kick out of that name.  Not much magic happening there...that's for sure. 

He did have some pretty amazing clients and I loved talking with them and learning about their lives.  We had an opportunity to purchase this business but things did not work out the way we had originally planned.  Steve had a friend up in Montana who had been trying to sell his business.  We decided on a whim to go check out the area and the possibility.   We drove up one weekend, attended the temple there, and we  had a wonderful feeling about this new change in our lives.

I think the saddest thing about leaving Twin Falls was having to leave our "home away from home"

This probably sounds a bit strange but I became quite attached to this place.  Every week for three days a week we would go to this Hilton Garden Inn.  They were amazing there.  The best customer service EVER!!!  The rooms were beautiful and so dang comfy!.  Every person on the staff treated us almost like family.   One server, in the restaraunt there, even invited us to her wedding and asked Steve to write her wedding vows.  They had the most DELICIOUS fresh out of the oven cookies each night at 5:30 pm.  Their breakfasts were so yummy.  We were treated like royalty there.  Awwwww I miss it just thinking about it! 

I have a warm fuzzy feel each time I drive past any Hilton now.  I am NOT kidding either. Both Howie and I really loved it there and miss it.  Good bye Twin Falls.....Look out Billings....HERE WE COME!

Well.....Once we were approved for the franchise we were invited to go to Minneapolis Minnesota to get a few days of training before everything was finalized.

                                It was absolutely beautiful.....

We had a room right next to the indoor pool.  It looked very relaxing but we did NOT bring our suits.  The ten oclock rule does not apply unless you are in your own backyard!!!  lol  (family secret)

The trip to Minnesota was interesting to say the least.  I felt a little overwhelmed about all of the information that they were feeding us.  I was not so sure I really wanted to take on this new adventure.  Our lives are about to change forever and I was a little hesitant.  There was a man in the meetings that was probably feeling the same as me because one day after lunch he did not show back up in class.  When asked where he was they told us the he decided that owning a business was NOT FOR HIM!  I thought to myself....."you should have taken me with you!"  I am finally getting use to the idea of our changes in our lives.  Adapting is certainly a struggle at times but IT WILL GET BETTER!

NOTE.....We have been working in the business for six weeks now and have been EXTREMELY busy.  This is the first time I have been able to blog for months so I am way, way behind.  Soon I will be caught up and I will post about our new place in Montana and the Miracle Ear Business that we bought.  BUT...I have to post in order so that my journaling will not get too mixed up.
