It made me laugh watching her try to figure out how to eat this thing.
This cracked me up. After about ten minutes of driving she was dozing off to sleep. All the while she was licking on this piece of candy. You can almost see how her eyes were rolled back in her head. I guess she was having "Sweet" dreams! Very Funny!
Time for Presents....
When we got home it was present time!
Lyssi was SO excited the moment she saw SHOES!
She instantly sat down and couldn't wait til the box was opened
For those of you that do not know this... Lyssi LOVES, LOVES, LOVES shoes. If fact I thought seriously about taking her to Payless Shoe Store for a shopping spree instead of the Kangaroo Zoo. I think she would be in heaven sitting in the store for hours just trying on shoes....

When we saw her face we knew this gift was a HIT!
She first had to pull them each out and inspect each one
And then the fun began. Time to try them all on.
She also got some Dress Up Princess outfits....

Settling down for the night....
After a little dress up time we headed downstairs to play before bedtime. I pulled out some of our old Fisher Price toys that my girls played with when they were young. She absolutely LOVED them!

She was really winding down....
We went upstairs to get a drink before bed and decided to give her the rest of her presents. She got a Princess Barbie. I was not sure if she was too young for this so I was not sure if we were even going to actually give it to her. The moment she saw it in the bag she wouldn't put it down. She kept wanting to open up the box. She kept saying "Barbie, Barbie" I guess her older sister has one and now she would too! I finally decided to let her open it up before she went to bed.
The first thing she did when it got out of the box was check out to see if Barbie had SHOES!!! Luckily they are not the kind that come off.
It had a special little fairy godmother that attached to her hand and the dress would light up. Pretty cool. Each would turn the dress a different color. We sat in the dark and watched her dress light up for quite some time.
The Barbie had matching dresses with the dress-ups that we bought her. The pink outfit had a princess crown but I didn't think Lyss would have anything to do with it. April had told me a while ago how Lyssi hates to have anything on her head. I figured the same would apply to this crown.
NOPE! She instantly put it on and played with it....
She wanted me to wear it too..... Back and forth from her head to mine. This girl is pretty easy to entertain! (I look wasted in this picture. You can tell it is past my bedtime!)
This dress up outfit she insisted on wearing as a tutu....
She would spin around and the sleeves would twirl!
Time for bed.....
Before bedtime I thought it was important to give her some snoring lessons. Howie had fallen asleep down in the toy room and so I thought it was a perfect time to teach her how HE does it. Just kidding! Howie doesn't snore that often.... only if he is exhausted! I don't hear it anyway cuz I am in LaLa land lately when it comes to sleeping. I have spent my whole life with insomnia and now I can't seem to get enough! For all I know I probably SNORE TOO!

This has been a very long and exciting day.....
Finally Grandma "T" is letting me sleep!
Within a moment or two she was out COLD!!!
I was a little concerned when I put her to bed because she had never slept on the toddler bed that I have at my home. The next morning when Howie went in to wake her up for church he found her with her head UNDER the bed with only her little feet hanging out from beneath it. She was totally WASTED. Luckily if she fell out of bed it was not a big fall. The bed is close to the ground and I had put blankets around just in case.
After she was fed, bathed and all ready for church she found time to sneak downstairs to play with some toys. I couldn't find her at first because she was sitting down to drive the bus and the stuffed animals were dumped in all around her. I guess the box had tipped over. Only her head was poking out. It looked so stinkin' cute with her Big BLUES staring back at me. I ran to get my camera but I was too late. She was trying to dig her way out when I took this shot. BUMMER!
It was nice to spend Sunday with her. She got to go to her nursery class and did a great job. April's childhood friend, Diane was teaching in the class and Lyssi went right to her. She cried for a moment when we left but I watched her through a peep hole they have in the door and she was playing with all of the kids.
I don't know what April was talking about when she said that Lyssi hates things on her head. She wore this crown that she got from church for a long, long time. She learned how to be honest in her class today.
Lyssi found my stash of tomatoes which were ripening in the windowsill.
She was in heaven! She first thought the tomatoes were called pumpkins. But she soon decided that they were BALLS! That is another thing that Alyssa loves to play with. Any type of ball it doesn't matter how big or how small. She absolutely loves them!
She kept throwing these at ME!
HEY WATCH IT!!!
I went up to change from church and when I came down I found her with her shoes again. She had them all lined up in a row. She spent quite a while lining them up and re-arranging them "just right"
It was so hard for her to walk in these. My hardwood floors were sooo slippery. I laughed so hard watching her try though. I was worried she might get hurt cuz she kept falling. I would take her down on the carpet area but she would promtly take them upstairs to the hardwood floor. I think she liked the sound they made.
WARNING.... I sound so stupid on these videos. Just watch how cute Lyssi is and delete my voice!!! YUCK!!!
She finally figured out that if she only has ONE shoe on it is much easier to balance. She is pretty good at just ONE! Then one little "slip" and her giggles are back!
Our time with Lyssi has come to an end. We had a GREAT time celebrating her 2nd birthday.

We had so much fun that Howie mentioned how we need to do this every six months instead of every year. This "alone time" with our grandkids really help us to bond with them and grow closer. I enjoyed even the quiet times spent with her just sitting on my lap as I talked with her or read her stories. I loved watching Howie play with her (as always). She just lights up each time he is around. Thoy have a special bond between the two of them. WHAT A JOY SHE IS IN OUR LIVES!
