Day out at the Circus......

One day while I was at school some clowns from the Ringling Brother Barnum and Bailey Circus came and visited. After seeing them I thought it would be a great idea to take our oldest two grand kids to the circus for a day of fun!

We got permission from their moms to kidnap them for the day. I don't think that Brayden or Karah had any idea what a circus even was. We stopped first at Ashlee's house and Jack-Jack was ready to go. As soon as we arrived he quickly pulled out his Batman costume (thanks Aunt April) and insisted on wearing it.

Brayden modeling his new attire.....

He was pretty stoked about going on a date with us!

He was all smiles....... At least for a while :)

Here he is tutoring Grandma "T" on how to properly shoot out webs from your hands. Sound effects and all! I couldn't get the sound exactly right but he was a very patient teacher. Jack always makes us laugh!

Before long we were picking up Boo....

She was also ready to go and enjoy the day.

We never miss a chance to take a picture with both of our girls....

Buckled in and ready to go......

Once again please note the smile on Jack's face. It won't be there for long. We had no idea what we were about to experience......LOOK OUT!

Brayden I guess had it in his mind that if he is going on a date with Papa Howie and Grandma "T" then we must be going to see Thomas the Train. (That is the place we took him for his birthday celebration) To top it off his mom dressed him in his Thomas shirt which must have confused him as well. When we drove up to the Delta Center and got out of the car he instantly realized that Thomas was not there. He began whining and crying just a little at first. We had arrived at the circus one and a half hours early because of the pre show activities they provided for the kids. We thought it would be fun for them. But the more time that Brayden had to think about not seeing Thomas..... the worse it got. Before long he was screaming uncontrollably. He refused to take off his costume when we arrived so here we were outside in the middle of the crowd and Batman was having a meltdown. Boy did we ever attrack a crowd. It made me laugh so hard watching others reaction when they saw him. For those of you who do not know him, he has a VERY LOUD SCREAM! I was frantic about what to do so I tried to call Ashlee for some backup support. He cried for about an hour. This video was the wind down version of what we experienced.

It broke my heart that he was so disappointed. Next time we will make sure he understands where we are going and what we will be doing! Poor little guy! (I was not laughing at Brayden in the video- I was laughing at the people passing by listening to him)

Good ole Papa Howie got him to calm down a bit. We walked over to see the elephants and the lions.

It was kind of neat to see the elephants up close and personal as they got prepped up and ready to go!

An awfully big blowdrier.....

AAAHHHH nice and pretty.....

Me - Boo - And Elephant Too

They had a few lame displays set out but not too interesting

Both kids were pretty bored at this point

Hey Brady.... smile! It's not that bad!!!!

Brayden wanting to be left alone would just wander slowly behind us. Still talking about his train ride.

Brayden did enjoy the tigers which were behind these fences.

It was so hot we only stayed in this area for a short time and then headed back to the Delta Center. They had pre-show entertainment inside and hopefully it will be more entertaining than this parking lot animal experience!

Once inside Howie hooked up the kids with goodies.....

POPCORN! Now we're talkin'

Hey.... I see a boy under that batman costume! YEAH!

The clowns were very entertaining.....

There were all sorts of acts to watch before the circus began.

We were even able to meet the clowns up close and personal........

This clown reminds me of an old friend Ryan Barrus.

As you can tell the kids were not too thrilled to be this close to a man with a big red nose! Save me Papa Howie.

The last thing we were able to see before the circus began was this amazing elephant. He was painting a picture using a paintbrush in his trunk. Very impressive!

The elephant drew a huge crowd and Karah had a great seat way up high on Papa Howie's shoulders.

The elephant drew a picture of a tree!

Finally in our seats for the show to begin.....
Man that is a HUGE tub of popcorn

I really enjoyed the elephants each time they came onto the stage. These are just a few short clips to show their talent.

I would hate to be sat on by one of these enormous animals!

It was fun to watch the reaction of the kids as they enjoyed the circus. They were mezmerized at times.

Karah being a goofball during the show.....

Hey Boo.... It's dark in here. You don't need shades!

During intermission we got treats and souveniers for the kids. Brayden was in heaven with his binoculars.

Karah chose the magical lighted princess crown

I had forgotten that Jack is not a fan of things that are cold. So Howie and I got to share his snowcone with him. YUMMY!

Karah on the other hand loved the snowcone. Her cup lit up just like her crown. She drank it so fast that several times you could tell she had major BRAIN FREEZE! I had a video of her brain freeze incident but it would not download. It is pretty funny!

After the circus was over and we had fed them tons of junk, we decided we had better get some "Real Food" into their systems before we dropped them off at home. McDonald's was their choice and I think it is because they can play there for a while and then stop, run back to the table for a bite or two and then off to playing again!

Fun on the slide....WEEEEeeeeeee

Brayden taking a break for one SMALL bite of food

Wait.... He sees the kids playing while looking through his binoculars and......HE'S OFF!!!!

Back to the playground for some more fun!

Howie goofing off with the grandkids. He's showing how they will look if they eat too many meals at McDonalds. Howie always knows how to make the kids laugh and have a good time. He's hilarious!

Karah was concerned because Brayden was not eating.

She is using his binoculars to try to scout him out.

For all of you photographers out there I know that this picture is all wrong. The lighting is way off, he is washed out BUT.... I love what happened as I clicked this picture. I had taken my camera over after I had eaten to snap some shots of the kids playing. I could hear their squeals of excitement as they ran around the tunnels and slides. This one particular spot I found I could capture a glimpse of them as they sped by. I was standing there with my finger on the button ready to snap a quick shot. Just then Jack ran past.... stopped briefly and backed up..... looked me straight in the eye and said "I love you Grandma "T"! I REEEEALLY love you!" I wanted to crawl through the bars and give him the biggest Grandma "T" hug ever. It feels so great to be loved by these sweet kids. I absolutely LOVE being a grandma!!!!! It is so much fun. It gives me so much satisfaction in my life to hear the laughter and see the smiles on my grandkids faces. They light up my world and I am so happy we were able to once again form fun memories with them. I will always cherish the time spent with them. I love and adore all 5 of my grandkids.

Thought we'd better buy them more sweets.

You can never have too much sugar!

They had to wait till they got home to open these up.....

Aren't we SMART grandparents?

Leave the sticky mess for the parents to worry about

Big brother sharing ....
Looks like Tyson wants a taste too....

LOOOKS like Brayden had fun after all!

I swear I commented on this but I don't see it! Thanks for taking Boo to the circus-what a great idea! She loved it and had a great time! Sorry Brayden was stuck on Thomas!
