It was a perfect day for a swim.
Very refreshing after a morning of fishing.
The kids were a little hesitant about the pool at first. This was the first time that we actually swam together with the grandkids this summer because we were gone the whole month of June.
But before long they were feeling pretty comfortable and didn't need to hold onto moms or grandma.
Boo getting use to the water....
The kids splashing on their own.....
The little ones enjoyed the pool toys.....
Lyss in the motorcycle....... VROOOM-VROOOOM!
Here is April just Chillin'.......
And Shawn taking his afternoon nap in the shade.
He had a rough day of fishing
Hey get in the pool....It is very relaxing!
Papa Howie's cool new hairstyle.....
The fun is about to begin!!!!!
Whenever Papa Howie comes around the kids there is an excitement that instantly happens. The kids begin giggling just knowing that the fun is about to begin. Howie always gets a major WORKOUT when he plays with these kids. He is either wrestling on the floor, dragging them around the house, playing on the swings, giving piggyback rides, anything for fun! Here the kids are being shot off like rocket ships out of the water.
Even Lyss got a special ride in her blow up toy....
Here she is coming in for a landing. I love this picture because if you look behind Alyssa you can see April in the background. It looks like she has grown a FOO MAN CHOO mustache! Very cool looking April!
Hey where did it go?!?
I love spending time with my girls. I really enjoy watching them play with their small kids. They are both such wonderful mothers and have great relationships with their children.
I love these next few pictures of April and Alyssa...
Lately everytime April asks for a kiss from Lyss she sticks out her tongue. She thinks it is so funny.
April has had a really rough time with the loss of her child, Evan. But she finds so much joy in her little girls. She especially has a bond with Lyss. She brightens up her day and fills it with love.
You can tell that Shawn has had enough sun for one day. Once he finally decides to get into the pool he makes this contraption to keep the sun out. What a cute family.
Papa Howie ready for more fun.....
Love these big blue eyes....
This silly girl.....
This cute little guy....
This beautiful smile.....
AND..... this wonderful man!
AM I BLESSED OR WHAT?!?
Funny Story....
Well we were all out swimming and playing in the pool and Luke had asked to get out to dry off. I wasn't paying attention to what he was up to until I heard this pounding sound.
As I looked up to the top of my stairs I saw Luke with a hammer in hand just pounding away at the door frame and the railing and the INSIDE WALLS OF MY HOUSE!!!
When I asked what he was doing he said,
"I fixing it Grama T - I fixing it!"
A few weeks before this party Ash and Tyson were over at my house helping paint and fix things around the house. We had put pieces of wood between the railing and the door frame to help stablize it. Luke was so curious as he watched us work on it. He probably saw the blue tape still in place and figured it was still in need of repair. I swear that someday when he grows up he will own some big construction company or something. He is always so intent on learning and watching what his daddy is doing and wants to be involved in everything. I wish he would grow up faster so that I can hire him out to fix things up around my home. He would really come in handy. This entertained Luke for quite some time.
SnowCones.....
A swimming party is not complete without a ice cold snowcone
April and the kiddos.....
YUMMY!
Can you tell how much she loves this little one....
Ashlee's boys have been on this "Puppy dog" kick. They are constantly pretending to be puppies. Tyson even has them trained to do tricks. I thought it was pretty funny that when someone accidently spilled their snowcone Luke was there to the rescue to "LAP" up the spilled mess. He cleaned it all up with his trusty TONGUE! What a crack-up!
My grandkids are so cute together. I love to watch them play and interact with each other. I found these two off by themselves playing on the hammock. Luke was playing with Lyssi's toes (which were painted red-blue for the holidays) They were just giggling and jabbering to each other. Very cute!
BIG HUGS!
More fun with cousins....
The kids are traveling in style....
We headed down to the field by our house to get some wood....
This probably looks odd to see us all traveling down the neighborhood like this but people around us know that we are always doing something a little ODD and enjoying every minute of it!!!
Boo with her wood collection....
Luke helping out.....
Brayden wanted to play with his sticks....
"Look at my sword, Grandma T"
Hey Ash
do you need help loading those big sticks into the wheelbarrow? :)
April was all about playing with the kids.....
Actually Luke didn't have any shoes on so April gave him a ride to a big pile of rocks to play in. I love this picture of the two of them.
They were really enjoying themselves. We could have stayed there all night in this pile of gravel and the kids would have been totally content with it all.
Papa Howie ready for a ball game with his huge log...
Hey batta-batta-batter...SWIINNGG!
Heading back with our load....
Remember how I said Luke is our little helper. See how he is involved in every part of the HARD LABOR! Here he is helping Howie push the BIG wheelbarrow. What a trooper.
Shawn getting the fire going....
We decided to not only have the traditional smores which everyone has around a campfire, but to also make Apple Pie on a stick and Bisquick rolls. Yummy!
The kids enjoyed themselves but I was really nerved up because I thought that the kids would get too close to the fire and get burned. Memories of Ash and her fire incident kept coming to mind. I'd hate for something to happen to my sweet grandkids.
So they stayed their distance.....
Howie helping Luke make a biscuit....
It was a long but very fun day. My pictures of the evening campfire didn't turn out as good as April's did. She has a much better camera than I do. You can check her pictures out on her blog that she just posted. FUN memories.
April bought the kids some glow in the dark necklaces and they had a good time playing with them before bedtime. These were taken in the dark of the night but they don't look like it. I have no idea how to use my camera. Oh well they are cute kids!
The night is winding down but the kids aren't! They were having a fun time together. Ashlee tried to settle her kids down for bed in their tent. Brayden doesn't look like he will be sleeping anytime soon! He looks a little WIRED!
Luke on the other hand was ready to sleep so we could wake up for the 4th of July celebrations!
Ashlee's family slept out in the tent. (Tyson was working all night so he missed out on all of the fun and we missed having him there with us)
Howie and I slept out under the stars and we were CHAPERONED by Karah. She always wants to be by our side. April and Shawn slept inside. WIMPS!!! Really sleeping out under the stars was the most comfortable night sleep I have had in a long time. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and PEACEFUL! LOVED IT!!!!
