Mother's Day 2011

May 8, 2011
I woke up to this yummy breakfast for Mother's Day.  Howie and the girls delivered breakfast in bed to April and me.  It was delicious!
Howie also spoiled me with gifts!
A beautiful watch and some perfume
I helped the girls make their mom some coupon books.  They were really excited to surprise her with them
April and her girls....

When we got back from church the boys came over and we had an activity planned for them.  We were making chocolate suckers.
The kids helped set up and get the chocolate ready to be melted

They all love to be involved in every step of the projects that we do together.  They are all such great helpers.
Melting the colored chocolate
Grandma T showing them how it is done....

Everything set and ready to begin.  The kids sure do "eat up" these activities we do together.  They are always asking if they can do a "project with me"  I love it :)
We had planned on them making these to give out to their moms and grandmas.
They each chose their molds and began to work
Jack making his racecar sucker.....
Lyssi and Boo chose flower suckers....Of course!
Checking under the mold to make sure it is JUST RIGHT!
Yep....looks good!
This was one of the funnest activities that we have done together.  I had all sorts of different molds for the kids to choose from.  Flowers, sea life, race cars, pirates, hearts and much more.  They wanted to make one of each!
Not only was this a fun activity....it was a YUMMY one as well.  Nothing better than CHOCOLATE and pretzels
There finished products....
They even made suckers to give away to some of the elderly ladies in our ward.
April and Nate were missing out on the fun!  They were both off in DREAMLAND!

When we finished and cleaned up we headed over to visit Grams.  The kids were excited to go there and give her the sucker that they made for her.
My mom loves when they come visit especially her little happy, smiley Nate.
I saw this picture and had to laugh.  What kind of face is THAT????  Funny kid looks like he may be constipated or something.  So funny :)
There is my giggly boy sitting in Grandpa Jack's chair.  Did I mention that he is the happiest kid around?  Seriously.....HE IS!
Our little bundle of joy!
I am glad that we were able to go visit my mom on this day.  She has spent her life telling us kids that Mother's Day is her LEAST favorite day.  She actually wishes it was not even celebrated.  I am happy we have it because it gives me a day to focus my thoughts on the wonderful mom that she is.  I don't see her as often as I should but the impact she has had on my life is incredible.  She has stood by me through some pretty tough times and showed me unconditional love and acceptance.  I know she has a lot of heartache worrying about her children and their welfare.  She has cried buckets of tears in our behalf.  I only hope she knows how much we all appreciate her efforts in raising us.  She has always been an example of how we should live our lives.  Now....if we will just follow her example and get our acts together....she would be truly happy.  I love you mom.   Happy Mother's Day!
