I am still frantically trying to catch up my blog. I try to take Sunday afternoons to work on it. I am only FOUR months behind! I don't want to give up because it is such a great way to remember the good times spent with family and friends. This blog is gonna be a LONG one because we took so many pictures and it was sooooo much fun.
Halloween 2010 was a RIOT! At least the party we had was. I am NOT one for Halloween but if the grandkids are involved then I LOVE IT!!!!
We always try to snap pictures each time we get together because it is so much fun to look back and see how everyone has grown and changed. We love our girls!!!
The boys actually both sat together and let us take a photo. Usually they are more interested in playing than just sitting around for a stinkin' photo shoot! They are both growing up tooooo fast!
And of course....Can't forget our CRAZY faces. They seem to love that part of taking pictures.
Our grandkids are PROS at making silly faces. They learned it from the BEST! We are difinitely ONE GOOFY FAMILY but I love it that way!
Snuggling up with MY baby....Love you Ash!
The boys were excited to show off their costumes.
Brayden
Karah showing off her bookmarks that she had made. She really wanted to show them off to the boys and tell them how much money she made from selling them. Brayden is much more interested in POSING for the camera. Everytime I snap a picture he quickly says...."Can I see...can I see?" He loves to make sure his pose is "just right"
Karah dressed like a beautiful bride. She is adorable but I DO NOT like the idea of her in a wedding dress. She is suppose to stay LITTLE forever!!! We have told her that she is NOT allowed to move away till she is at least 18 years of age! Seeing her in this dress made me realize that she will be grown and gone before I know it and that will NOT BE GOOD! I love these kids so much and we are enjoying them so much that I hate to see it end. :(
Mummies and Ghosts.....
We decided to let the kids make their own food for this party.
They thought it was so cool to open the containers and watch them POP!
Brayden Jack was a little cautious when he saw the food exploding out of the containers....."What kind of food are you going to make us eat?"
The girls dug right in.....
I was still trying to convince Brayden that mummies are good to eat! He was NOT buying it!!!
The kids had a great time creating their lunch...
Jack put himself in time out....He was not too impressed with my idea of Halloween FOOD!
Making yummy ghosts.....
Hard at work!
Luke is being so careful to decorate it "JUST RIGHT"!
Almost ready to go into the oven.....
It was nice to see Brayden come join in the fun. Once he warmed up to the idea of what we were doing he really enjoyed himself. I think he actually heard that we were going to add sugar on top of our ghosts, and that sparked an interest! All kids LOVE sugar ya know. Mmmm-Mmmmm Gooood!
Ashlee helping out her boys....
Witches Brew....
While the ghosts and mummies cooked in the oven we started our witches brew.
They were VERY excited but probably not as excited as I was! I loved doing this with school kids over the past 25 years and I never tire of it. It is one of my favorite Halloween activities....
We first had them close their eyes so that we could pull out the "London FOG" It was so cute to watch them squeezing their eyes shut so tight!
I loved to watch their reaction once their eyes were open. Their expressions portray their individual personalities perfectly. Karah looks a little timid or scared about the steam coming magically from the pot. Lyss on the other hand HAS NO FEAR! She looks like she is ready to put her hand in to explore. Luke is our THINKER! If you look closely at his face he is trying to calculate exactly HOW that is working. You can see his mind at work. Jack is a little of everything. A little hesitant at first, but extrememly interested in this COOOOL stuff happening before his eyes. (you can click on any picture to make it larger- There are many in this post that are taken from far away. The expressions on their faces are priceless)
We had fun blowing on the "FOG" to make it grow!
Witches brew is never complete without a large dose of WITCHES BLOOD! Lyss asked me about a month after we did this project "Grandma T, Where did you find a witch that was bleeding for our witches brew?" I had no idea that she thought it was REAL blood till weeks later! So funny :)
Each of the kids took turns putting in our ingrediants for the brew. Ogers Eyeballs (grapes) Crushed skeleton bones (sugar) Bugs, Lizards, Spiders, ect. I'm not sure what we had just put in the pot but...If you look at Jack's expression on his face, it must have been something REALLY GROSS! He couldn't even LOOK!
Jack is timidly putting in some crushed skeleton bones but he's not too sure that he wants to get too close. The kids took turns stirring the brew.
Bubble...Bubble...Toil and Trouble!
Karah has a look of concern here. Wonder what she is thinking?
Lyssi has a very spunky personality. She was LOVING this! I love the look on her face when it was her turn to put her lizard in! So dang cute!!!
Jack on the other hand needed to close his eyes shut TIGHT when it was his turn for the lizard! Look at Luke...he is still trying to figure out how this is all working!
Then it was time for the wicked witches teeth!
They laughed so hard when the teeth went in....they are so dang adorable!
Once the "FOG" calmed down a bit they were much more brave to look into the pot to see their concoction.
Delicious witches brew!!
Time to drink up....
We planted pumpkins this year in our backyard and every few days the girls woud go outside and check on their progress. They were so excited when the blossoms turned into tiny pumpkins. They watched them grow bigger and bigger. They continually asked us when it was going to be time to pick them. We told them we would save them for our Halloween party for the family. The day was finally here and they couldn't wait!
We snapped a few more picts before heading outside. My girls are adorable!
These pictures are so much alike but I couldn't decide which I liked better SO I just posted them both. I think April looks so happy and beautiful in this picture. She is the best mommy to these girls.
Ashlee and her three boys. Well....two that you can see. Her other is in the "OVEN" so to speak! She is great as well with her kids. I feel so happy that all of my grandchildren are loved and cared for by wonderful mothers. They are sure lucky to have Ash as their mom!
Lyss with her beautiful blues.....This girl certainly knows how to GET WHAT SHE WANTS! Pumpkin patch time.....
Since Karah had worked all year watering and weeding the garden area, she was chosen to go first. She made a BEE-LINE right to the pumpkin that she had been eye-ing all year. She knew exactly which pumpkin she would pick out.
She was so happy to FINALLY be able to pick the darn thing!
Lyssi went next.....She knew which pumpkin she wanted but she had a problem. She COULD NOT lift the crazy thing up!
Almost ready to have a tantrum....She gets frustrated easily!
She tried one more time....She got the pumpkin but she is about to LOSE her PANTS!
Awww now there is that smile I love and ADORE!
Luke was next. He quickly chose the one for him.
He rolled it out on the grass to "CLEAN" it. He wanted to try to get all the MUD and DIRT off it before he actually picked it up. He is so CUTE!
I love my Lukie Pachukie!
Brayden quickly found the one he wanted but after trying briefly to pick it up, with no luck, he decided SOMEONE else would have to get it for him.
Here he is starting his little pouty face. We told him that he had to pick it up himself. NO WAY was that happening!
Papa Howie came to the rescue! If you notice in this picture who is actually holding the pumpkin. Jack was happy as long as he didn't have to touch it! We love you Papa Howie!!!
The adults got to choose one as well. Here is my handsome man! Awwww I love him.
Ash chose the green one.....A baby pumpkin for her little baby boy
April was funny. She tugged and tugged and tugged on this with not much luck. She finally got it! Good for you April. Now go inside and start pumping some iron. You are a wimp! LOL
Three people I love more than anything in this world! My family!
They made me hobble over in the garden area for a pumpkin of my own. Steve had gone over to the store early that morning and bought two or three extra pumpkins because we thought we may have some unhappy kids if there wasn't a variety to choose from. He strategically placed them in the patch and you couldn't tell the difference. Except for the "BAR CODE" on one of them! LOL Just kidding
Fun memories with my family!
While we set out the paints for the pumpkins....the kids played with their witches brew toys. I love the way they play so nicely together. They are great friends to each other.
Pumpkin Decorating.....
I loved sitting back and watching the kids create their own masterpiece with their pumpkins.
Allysa hard at work....
She was working on a pretty GIRL face for her pumpkin.....
Hers had a beautiful smile, big eyes, yellow hair, green earrings and of course....a tongue sticking out! This pumpkin fits right in our family!
Luke worked so hard on his pumpkin. I think he spent more time and used more colors than anyone in our family.
He wanted to make sure every bit of his pumpkin was covered with paint! He is making a beautiful RAINBOW pumpkin....
Taaaa-Daaaaa!
Karah was painting away and I really had no idea what it was she was painting
She was concentrating so hard....
She then quietly set it aside to dry. I still was unsure as to what she had made until she explained it to me. Then it was CLEAR AS DAY!
She had painted a MANGER SCENE on her pumpkin. There was a stable, a manger with baby Jesus, a Star of Bethlehem, an Angel, the WHOLE DEAL! Holy cow....where did she come up with that one? It was beautiful but totally unexpected. I think she really wants to get these frivilous holidays out of the way and get to the REAL HOLIDAY....CHRISTMAS!!! I also think she has been practicing Christmas songs at school so that may be where her idea came from. Not sure but it was sure a unique pumpkin. LOVED IT!
Brayden started on his pumpkin and I had no idea what to expect. I loved walking around the kitchen snapping pictures because you could sure see their little minds at work. Brayden kept saying " You are gonna LOVE this one Grandma T! It is gonna be SOOOO COOOOOL"
He was making a Pirate Pumpkin! Patch and all......
Oy Maties.....
Lookin' Cool Jack!
I LOVE IT!
Even the adults participated in the painting of the pumpkins.....
Howie making his "BLONDE BOMBSHELL"
Oh wait....maybe that is NOT a girl. I was thinking when he first started that he was making a girl but now that I take another look at it....It resembles Howie himself. Except maybe the ears. They are a little on the LARGE MARGE side! The smile looks quite a bit a like though....don't ya think? LOL
Ashlee was another one that I had NO IDEA what she was working on.
I saw here painitng with black and white....who uses those colors for a pumpkin?
One side had Nate's name.....
The other side had her ultrasound picture!
Very CREATIVE Ashlee.... Perfect for baby Nate!
April started with a bunch of different colors for her pumpkin. She took a long time to make her own speckled colored pumpkin!
Now it was time for me to decorate "MY PUMPKIN".
I had the best "canvas" of all! Ashlee's belly!
I didn't want baby Nate to feel left out of our party so I decorated HIM!Can't tell that Ash is about to have a baby in a few short months. She is hardly showing!
Wa Laaaaaa! Mine is complete!
Movie Time.....
Usually when we have a movie the grandkids beg Papa Howie to make his FAMOUS popcorn. But this Halloween party I thought we would mix things up a bit!
I found these Cereals and thought they would work perfectly for movie snacks. BOY was I MISTAKEN! Talk about a SUGAR high!!! The kids seemed to like it but I think they would really prefer Papa's Popcorn instead!!!
Lounging during the Halloween movies....
Carmel Apples......
The last thing we needed at this party was MORE sugar...BUT I thought it would be fun to dip and decorate apples.
The kids LOVED this activity.....
I had just taken this picture to show how the kids had decorated them and I now notice that Lyss is off on the side LICKING HER LIPS and admiring her apple that she had just made. So cute. I wish I had got more of her in this shot!
By the time Howie got a turn it was almost all gone and the carmel had thickened quite a bit. This was ONE CARMEL COATED apple. I think his carmel was at least an INCH thick!!! So yummy!
Ape cheezin it for the camera!
Can you say FATTENING????
Looks delicious Aprileeenie!
Can't believe these two girls downed those carmel apples in NO TIME FLAT! They were LOADED with toppings! It gives me a stomach ache just looking at this picture. TOO MUCH for me :)
Holy COW...That apple is about the size of her HEAD! It takes two hands to just hold it!
I think Luke had more fun putting bugs and spiders on his than actually eating it!Now that is ONE BIG BITE!!!
Lyss needed Papa Howie to help her hold it so that she could have a bite of hers."hmmmmm....not bad! Are you sure it is okay for me to eat all of this?"
"Yep....I got the go-ahead from my mom.....I am going to make myself SICK!"
Well I know this post was extrememly long but I loved posting it. It brought back so MANY fun, fun memories that I had forgotten about. I love my family with all of my heart and feel VERY blessed to have them all in my life. We really know how to have a good time together. I look forward to each occasion to gather as family and enjoy each other's company.
I am posting this from here in Montana and looking over these pictures sure makes me homesick. I think I better finish up now and get on the phone and call these adorable grandkids of mine and talk with them.
Ta Ta for Now!
