On November 19th April had surgery on both of her feet. I was able to spend the following six weeks or so helping her out as she recovered.

Here she is at the hospital all excited to get this surgery done. She has been in a lot of pain with her feet for years now and finally she is going to get some help.

All ready in her cute hospital gown and cute slippers....

We had a good time goofing off before the doctor came in...
Here she is showing me what she will look like after surgery. Hey April they are doing your feet NOT your CHEST!

She had her own personal little
tv but we were "playing" too much to watch anything. Besides I think she was a little nervous. She get a bit CRAZY when she feels uncomfortable about things.

Here she is modeling her cute hair net and showing me what she will look like once she gets her medication for surgery!

Her Doctor wrote all over her legs and feet before surgery. Also notice her nice pedicure! She was treated to a deluxe pedicure right before the surgery date. Your little piggies are looking pretty!

The surgery took longer than they had originally thought it would but she was finally out and resting peacefully.
Ahhhh....There is my sweet angel!

Her feet right out of surgery....

April is quite the TROOPER.
She has had to endure a lot of JUNK lately and NOW THIS!

Finally awake and ready to head for home.....
Home from the Hospital....

Howie and the girls were waiting patiently at home for April to arrive. The girls were sure happy to see their mommy home safe and sound. Look at
Lyssi's cute smile.

Once we got April in the house and situated on the couch she was bombarded with tons of loves and hugs from her girls. You can sure see the love these girls have for their mom.
Ahhhhh!
Lyssi and Whitney's turn for some cuddles with mommy....
Karah had made some cute get well cards for her mom ....
Lyssi and Whitney are happy that April is home again....

Such a sweet girl!

My mom let us borrow her wheelchair for a while while April recovered from her surgery.

The first night was especially hard for April. She was really in a great amount of pain. She had drain tubes in each ankle to drain excess blood from around the surgery area.

They needed to be changed every few hours.

One time when we were changing the tubes we noticed that one of them had this huge, gross blood clot in it. YUCK!!! You can't tell from this picture but it was really pretty big. I wondered how it made it through that small tube, unless it formed in the bottle. Is that even possible? Not sure.

In the weeks ahead there would be many, many cute tender moments where I found April sweetly holding her children. Even though she was in a lot of pain she still made sure that her young children were feeling loved by their mommy.

So SWEET!
They were both sound asleep in each others arms.

The girls loved to push the wheelchair around....
Karah is pushing her mom to their rooms so that she can read them scriptures and bedtime stories before the girls went to sleep for the night.
A Visit From Ashlee....

Ash came over to visit with April and brought the boys so that they could play with
Lyss and
Karah. I am so happy that my girls have a close relationship and would do almost anything to help the other one out.

Here April is showing off her battle scars....

Just a day after surgery and she is already bruising.

Luke is also enjoying this wheelchair....

Although it is a little harder pulling the wheelchair than it is to push it. Doesn't stop Luke though. He is one tough kid!

Ashlee decided to put up the tent for the kids to play in while the grownups visited.

Good move Ashlee!
The kids are loving it and having a great time.

Cousin Fun...
The grand kids play well together. They were going crazy in this tent though and ended up breaking it. BUMMER! But they sure have fun together. Lots of giggles.

April with her nephews....

Nice visit from the boys....Time to go home!
Flowers Flowers and more flowers..
A lot of people stopped by for a visit while April was recovering. Many brought over flowers to brighten her day.

These pretty tulips were from her father.....

These were from a ward member....
I think it was her relief society president.

And these were from....Howie!
But actually these roses were not for April. They were a gift from Howie to me. I had been a BRAT one night and didn't want Steve to travel all the way up to Syracuse for just a few hours and so he felt REJECTED or something. The next morning I went outside and found a bunch of candy as well as these beautiful flowers on the front porch along with a LOVE NOTE! I felt like a TOTAL jerk for making him feel NOT welcome. I am such an idiot when it comes to wasting money and I think wasting gas is one of my biggest pet peeves. Not sure how to get over that one.

They were sure beautiful!

And the candy was absolutely DELICIOUS!!!!
Not only did he buy me these yummy chocolates he also had some of my favorite candies scattered all over the porch. He is very thoughtful!

April's house was filled with the beautiful smell of flowers.
It was also filled with so much love and concern for her!
Everyone was praying for a very speedy recovery.
We love you April!
