After we left Disneyland we decided to stop by Newport Beach to play for a while.
On this post I decided to put some short video clips on instead of just pictures. The girls had NEVER been to the beach before so it was a riot to watch them experience it. Pictures just don't do it justice.....they were so excited! You can really see and hear how much fun they had.
When we first arrived the girls jumped out of the car and started running, hand in hand, down the street towards the sandy beach without us. They were just laughing and giggling so much. When they reached the sand both of them stopped and just looked at the beach area in awe. When we took their hand and started to head towards the water I could tell that Karah was a little apprehensive. They were both pretty cautious at first because they didn't quite know what to expect. The water by the way....was FREEZING!!
We had brought some sand toys with us and I am so glad we did, because they LOVED playing in the sand.
Lyssi enjoyed digging in the sand with her Papa....
Covering Papa's Little Piggies.....
WITH NO SUCCESS!
The girls tag teamed to try to get his toes covered. Karah better watch out because just before this video clip she drenched Howie with a bucket full of water. SHE IS NOT GOING TO GET AWAY WITH THAT ONE!!!
Making a sand castle....
Karah is HARD AT WORK making a pool for their castle. Lyssi is so happy. So fun to watch them play at the beach. They could do this for hours!!
I tried to talk Boo into starting a water fight with her Papa. I love her evil laugh!!! But as soon as she turned around and saw him standing there with his own bucket of water she CHICKENED OUT!!! What is she thinking??? She can out run her Papa Howie ANY OLE DAY!
Steve was out for REVENGE since she had dumped water on him earlier in the day.
LOOK OUT!!!! RUN KARAH!!!
Whew! She barely escaped her Papa's attempt to drench her!
I saw both Steve and Karah running towards me just laughing up a storm. I thought for sure that I was about to be ambushed with their buckets of water. NOPE...It was for their "castle pool" WHEW!!! that was a close one! Steve knows better than to start a water fight with ME!!! NOBODY wins a water fight with me!!! LOL
Lyss ran back and forth and back and forth for about an hour straight. Just giggling as she ran! Wish we had planned for a whole day at the beach.
Lyssi was extremely cautious as far as the water was concerned! Her goal was to stay far away from the waves as they came into the shoreline. As soon as she saw them approaching she would "high tail it" to the safety of the beach! I finally talked her into going out farther but NOT A GOOD IDEA!!!
WELL....Her MEAN Grandma T encouraged her to be brave and go out further than she had ever gone before. The waves (very small by the way) were more than her little body could handle! Oooops! Down she goes!!! And there goes that cute smile and her fun laughter! Tears, tears, and more tears! I think she was more shocked at what had just happened than actually mad that she got wet. FUNNY VIDEO!!! also....she had a MAJOR problem with "plumber's crack" this day. When the pants got wet ....the problem got even worse :)
Next time we visit the beach we will definitely bring the swimsuits AND....make sure it is some WARM SUNNY beach where the water doesn't give your feet FROSTBITE!!!!!
Hunting for seashells....
Alyssa only cried for a moment because we got her excited about going "hunting" for some pretty seashells.
The girls both really wanted to collect some seashells to take home with them.
She is fine with the waves as long as she has the security of her papa's hand!
Well, that smile is back on her face! Good thing she wasn't too traumatized from that spill she took in the water!
The girl's toes were shriveled like prunes from playing in the water so long.
After our fun at the beach it was time to head out. We had a few hours to drive to get to his sister's house. This was a great experience for the girls. Their first time at a beach. Lots of happy, happy memories!
Goodbye Newport Beach!
It was TONS of fun!
