Karah's Sixth BIrthday.....

Birthday Kisses.....

Well our sweet Karah is now 6 years old and it is time once again time to celebrate her birthday.
Wow she is growing up fast!
Our typical "photo-shoot" before the date begins

Our Date Begins....
Once in the car, Karah opened up our mail to find a surprise from her Grams and her Oma.  BIRTHDAY MONEY!!!!  She was so excited!  She wanted to instantly head to the Dollar Store to buy some toys for herself.

She wanted me to take a picture of KATE  holding her birthday money.  Kate comes along each year with us on our dates.  We bought this stuffed animal for Boo on her very first "grandparent date" with us when she turned three years old.  Karah has become quite attached to her.  She lugs Kate around EVERYWHERE!

We decided to take Karah to Hollywood Connection.....
It was our LUCKY day!

Magic Show....
When we entered the building we found that a magic show was in progress.  We decided to stay a while and watch it.  It worked out PERFECTLY for us because Karah had been asking lately if KIDS could be magicians.  She is always trying to show us magic tricks that she invents.  She had told me a few weeks before this DATE that when she grew up she wanted to be a magician.  Needless to say....SHE LOVED THE SHOW!
She was excited to meet the magician at the end of the show.  He said that anyone who was there celebrating a birthday could come up and he would make them a  balloon animal.

He made her a cute little bunny....
There were lots of fun rides, arcades, miniature golf and activities to do BUT.....Karah was more interested in WAITING FOR THE NEXT MAGIC SHOW TO BEGIN!!! She was perfectly CONTENT to just sit on the bleachers and watch the MAGICIAN get ready for the next show. We had talked with him after the show and told him about Karah's interest in magic and we even bought a magic kit to give to her, that he was selling. She couldn't wait till the next show began! I was really thinking this DATE was pretty LAME but Karah was absolutely THRILLED! I guess that is what matters.

Karah's patience REALLY paid off. She waited about 45 minutes for the next show to begin and he made it WELL worth her time.

When the show began he invited Karah up on stage to be his assistant in some tricks. SHE LOVED IT! He was really cute with her.

Movie Time...
After the magic shows we decided to go to a movie there.  Karah really wanted to see the show called...Cats and Dogs.  We were the ONLY people in the theatre and she thought it was so cool that she could sit ANYWHERE that she wanted.
She of course chose a seat way up high.  LOTS of stairs for her little ole, crippled granny to hike up.

Give this girl a bag of popcorn and she is in HEAVEN!

Fun at the Hotel....
After the movie we headed to a hotel for the night....
She was pretty surprised to find that both her Grams and her Oma sent her the EXACT same birthday card.  She loved them!
While Papa Howie was bringing in the luggage Karah insisted that she get us a drink of ice water.  She said we were all SO THIRSTY from our LONG drive to the hotel.  (maybe 10 minutes max)  She was excited because she knew how to fill the bucket at the ice machine and wanted to serve us ALL BY HERSELF!

Time for some tricks.....
Karah couldn't wait to get started on her own little magic show with the kit we had just bought her.

She couldn't wait to get inside to start her own little magic show with the kit we had just bought her.
Karah is NOT one for instructions....She wanted to dig right in and figure it out on her own!
It was fun to learn the new tricks together and know the SECRET of the magic tricks.  She practiced over and over so that when she got home the next day she could show her mom and friends that she is a MAGICIAN!
HELP!  She has me chained up and I can't get loose!!!
Abbra-Ka-Dabbra!

Dinner Time....

This is one way to get her to eat her BEANS!
Awww...I love this girl's hugs

Acting WIERD!

I love spending time with this girl!

Swimming Time....
We got a room at the Sheriton and we had a poolside room.  A little patio area with a walkway to the pool.  Very convenient!    By the time we got home from dinner it was dark but Karah still wanted to go take a swim.  Who takes their small grandchild swimming when they should be in BED????  ME :)

I brought some pool toys to play with....

Karah insisted on posing with the toys before we left for the pool
She loves her new swim suit!

We basically had the pool to ourselves....Karah thought it was so cool.  She kept asking if it was OKAY to be there so late and if we were going to be in TROUBLE!  She is definitly one who LIKES TO FOLLOW THE RULES!  I assured her that we were fine!

It was so hilarious what happened when Howie got in the pool with her.  I had just snapped this picture of the two of them together.  Steve took hold of her arms and drug her into the water.  SHE WAS NOT HAPPY!  She used this VERY GROWN UP VOICE and said...."Papa Howie.....you need to learn some manners!"  It was so funny to see her SCOLD  him.  She did not like the idea that he pulled her into the water without her permission.  SO FUNNY!

She still looks a little PEAVED at her Papa in this shot.  I think she was mad that he got her hair wet!  Yep....she's a GIRL!

She had a wonderful time swimming under the stars.
She did NOT want to get out.  She swam, and swam and swam! She kicked until I thought her little legs couldn't kick any longer and then she kicked some more!
The hot tub felt awesome!

Back to the room....
I was hoping we would really wear Karah out, so that when we went back to the room she would be tired and go to bed.  NOT SO!!!!  She instantly wanted to start a pillow fight and a sword fight with her Papa!  HE WAS BEAT!
This was the only way to calm her....She is PINNED!
Wish this picture had "sound". I love her giggles!
She kept BEGGING us to let her open her presents....
Even though it was nearly midnight...we gave in!
This year we decided to just buy her a bunch of board games.  She is at that age where she will do anything to spend time with us.  I bought some "old time classics" like Shoots and Ladders (princess style) and Tip It ( an old family favorite of mine when I grew up)

We thought that allowing her to open her presents was a GOOD idea.  WHAT WERE WE THINKING???? She then begged us to play EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM!  I was NOT thinking clearly that's for sure!
We talked her into just playing ONE game and then we could play the rest in the morning.  OH Wait!!!!  It's ALREADY morning!  LOL

This is a fun family game of balance and skill....
She loved it!
Once she realized that we were SERIOUS about her going to sleep after "Tip It"  she begged me to take ONE LAST PICTURE!   Yeah right....that was just one of her stall tactics.  She said she REALLY, REALLY needed a bedtime picture of her with her PRINCESSES.

Sweet Dreams....

She was NOT the LEAST BIT TIRED.....
She's fighting it...There she goes pulling at her ears. She does that everytime she begins to get sleepy!

GOING......GOING.....
GONE!!!

Sweet dreams my little princess.....

Breakfast in Bed.....
Since Karah started living in our home she has brought Howie and me breakfast in bed a dozen times AT LEAST!  The other day she mentioned that NO ONE EVER gives HER breakfast in bed. Well TODAY is her DAY!

Steve went to the nearby McDonalds and picked up some breakfast food to go along with our fruit we had brought. He made quite the little feast there!
Karah was NOT waking up!  Why in the WORLD would this little girl be so darn tired????? Could it be that her Crazy grandparents wore her to a FRAZZLE the day before?  Yep...I think that's it!

She started to wake a bit when I was teasing her about her BED HEAD hairdo!
Papa Howie was ready to go back to bed along with Boo.  Long day and way too short of a night's sleep. I guess I will have to eat all of this yummy food myself!
I got her upright but she was basically comatose!
Finally up and enjoying her HUGE breakfast.  BOY this girl can really EAT!   She really enjoyed her breakfast in bed.

Last Minute Fun....
We got a LATE checkout at the hotel so that we could spend a little more one on one time with her.  She really wanted to play each of her games before heading home.  We had a great time!
We even took time for ONE MORE pillow fight!
We are so glad that we were able to spend some private time celebrating Karah's sixth bithday with her.  Lots of new fun memories that we will always cherish!

Happy Birthday, Boo
