Fishin' for FIVES....

I am the PROUD owner of THREE new CRISP FIVE DOLLAR BILLS!!! (Which by the way...HOWIE STILL OWES ME!!!) He's holding back on me and refusing to pay the money due! He claims he wants to play "Double or Nothing"

Yep...You guessed it! I went fishing again and WON all the Mooola! Okay for those of you who are NOT familiar with our family tradition I will explain. Each and every time we go on a fishing trip there is a chance to win money. Five dollars is awarded to the person who catches the FIRST fish. Five dollars is awarded to the person that catches the BIGGEST fish, and Five dollars is given to the person with the MOST fish.

We arrived at the lake before the sun came up. It was a calm, beautiful summer morning.
We decided to rent a pontoon boat instead of an aluminum fishing boat because I am still in my surgical boot and we thought this would be easier for me to manuever in. Howie was just chillin' as we zoomed across the lake to our favorite spot.

Get me behind the wheel of ANY boat and I am in HEAVEN!!! Oh how I miss MY BOAT!
I just mentioned how it was a beautiful SUMMER morning. WELL....it was actually pretty darn cold when we first got started. Here it is in July and I am bundled up in all of my WINTER gear. My niece McKensie had crocheted me this head band (ear warmer) thing a few years ago and it really came in handy today. BURRRR! This weather is WHACKED!
YAY!!! I got the FIRST fish!

Money, money money, money OH YEAH!
I LOVE TO GLOAT!
Fishing for Howie was pretty SLOW for a while. At one point, I looked up at the front of the boat and found him sound asleep...basking in the warm sun. YEP, it did finally warm up that morning. I found it hilarious that he would just PLOP down in the middle of the boat on the GROUND when there were comfy, SOFT benches to lay on. Oh well...he didn't seem to mind! Funny thing with Steve is that he ususally catches fish WHILE HE IS SLEEPING. He will reel in his line after he wakes up and nine times outta ten there is a fish on the end! SO FUNNY!

This is the RUDEST fish I have ever caught! It took those sharp little teeth of his and BIT MY FINGER! Now it looks like he is planning to BITE his way out of this fishing basket. CHOMP away....you dumb fish...you ain't gonna get out! You made my finger bleed!
Well now HE is looking at me with those HUGE fishy eyes, PLEADING for me to let him out. Sorry sucker....I refuse to show pity on something that BITES me for NO REASON at ALL! What possessed you to bite me in the first place? Maybe the fact that I just drug you out of the lake, away from your family, friends, and "School" and now you are frantically gasping for air. Maybe little fishy, you were a little peeved that I held you up as I did a little victory dance, while GLOATING about winning another five bucks (all at YOUR expense) No matter what, there is NO EXCUSE for bititng me!!!! I take NO PITY on someone that HURTS me! Do you smell the barbecue heating up?

Wow I went off on a little tangent there! SORRY! Now back to our trip.....
Beautiful Strawberry Reservoir
Wonderful Husband of MINE!

We found some calm little coves, back in the Narrows, to fish while the wind was causing havock out in the main area of the reservoir. It was SO PEACEFUL!

Heading in after a long day of fishing...
I see our lodge in sight.
I am beat and ready for bed!

We had decided to stay in the lodge at the lake. All the rooms were booked so they gave us this HUGE suite for the same price as a regular room. It was cool. It had 4 queen beds, a separate room up front, a loft area with a bed, couch and table to play games at. We are planning on coming up around Christmas and booking this room for our family party. It was awesome.
It also had a patio area with a wonderful view of the lake.

I am so glad that Steve and I were able to come to Strawberry to fish. It was a very nice trip and was fun to spend time together in this beautiful place.

To Be or Not to Be said...

I am crying my eyes out for the fishy that was pleading for his life! I just knew as I was reading this that when you made eye contact, you would be merciful. Nope. Not Tanya. Greed and money and pride (gotta' win) got in the way. Maaaaaan!! I had no idea you were such a fisherwoman. First canning, now this? what's next?

Ok, that was wierd as soon as I came to the pictures of the fish that you had caught I immediately smelled fish. I don't know why, but I think that it might have to do with the memories that we have had together with FISH.

I love you mom and Howie I am glad that you two are able to have some really fun memories.
