I got some yummy peaches when we were in Logan at Howie's marathon. They were DELICIOUS! I dehydrated some and bottled the rest.
You can't tell from the picture here but these peaches were HUGE! They barely fit in the bottles and there were no LARGE MOUTH bottles left in the stores.
I love to have peaches, pears and applesauce readily available for the cold winter months.
I also canned some tomatoes. I am not a fan of canned tomatoes but thanks to Howie I had an abundance of GIGANTIC tomatoes in our home. They are by far the easiest thing to bottle and so I decided to get a few bottles going as well. I actually made some yummy spaghetti sauce with these fresh tomatoes and it was PRETTY GOOOOOOD!
Well my shelves in the pantry are now stocked. I made about 30 bottles of peaches, 24 pears and 20 bottles of tomatoes. We also dehydrated the granny smith apples from our tree out back and some apples from April's tree at her new house.
Karah has been bugging me constantly about making applesauce this year as well. She brought over a bag of teeny tiny apples from her tree and wanted to make some on conference weekend. I told her we needed some BIG apples to make applesauce and so when I was visiting my sister, Teresa, Howie and Boo went out back with Celene and picked some of their apples. Now I just have to find the time to get those done!!!. It is fun to be able to teach my sweet grandkids the same things that my mom taught me years ago. Karah helped Steve and I out with canning last year and we had some quality time together working to make some YUMMY applesauce. The applesauce I make is a recipe from my sister in law and it is so DANG GOOD! Hope I can find time to get it done! Things are getting crazy around here lately!

You REALLY do can. I am so impressed. You'd take the grand prize at the state fair with those beautiful bottles of peaches. I've tasted your applesauce and it seriously is the BEST!
Last year, Randy grew a huge garden. I was also doing several weddings. He said he could either build a new wedding backdrop and set I wanted or he could can. I canned so he would build my set. I actually enjoyed it. Now look who's laughing at who. I did tons of spaghetti sauce, salsa & chili sauce. The Wilcocks let me come and do a group session of canning peaches with them. Every year they all (even the men) join in bottling the produce and fruit from their huge gardens and whatever else they can get their hands on. I too, loved and appreciated eating those wonderful peaches all winter long.
