We went to visit this salt mine in the Salzberg mountains. The trip here was so pretty. I don't have any picts of the scenery on the way but if you can just imagine the rolling hills that are seen on the Sound of Music that is what it looked like. It made us want to run to the top of one of the hills and start spinning around in circles. Very green and very beautiful!!!

This salt mine is the oldest salt mine in the world. It is still operating today. This was a very interesting tour and I learned a lot about how they mine for salt. Very coooool!

Before we were able to enter the mine everyone changed into these fashionable jumpsuits to protect our clothing. They also kept us warm.

Throughout this trip I have been so impressed with these two little ones. They are so good to each other and get along so well. They are not only sisters..... they are best friends!

For being so young it is amazing how well behaved Lyssi is during these tours

What a good mommy!

This little one sure brightens my day. She has the cutest smile and sweet personality. Very happy little girl!

It has also been fun to see Shawn interact with his little girls. He is an amazing Dad and they have so much fun with him.

We had to wait quite a while for our tour to begin.

Yep.... I am daydreaming about my man back home in Utah. April caught me!!!

Smile Lyss.... She wants to run and play. There was a huge area where the kiddos could just run around. That's much more fun than taking these stupid pictures!

Time to load the train!
Almost everyone on our tour spoke a different language. Luckily there was a man who helped with the tour that spoke a little English. They also had speakers throughout the tour that we could stand beside and hear someone explaining things to us in English.

Our train loaded and ready for take off.... CHEESE!

We weren't allowed to take pictures inside the mine but this shows the tunnel we went through. Pretty tight squeeze at a pretty high speed. I was surprised how quick the train moved.

One of the funnest part of this tour were these wooden slides which we sat on to slide down to the next part of our tour. There were several of these throughout the tour and it was pretty fun!

It was pretty tricky to stay on these. You just straddle the rails and go. It was pretty steep and I was amazed how much speed we would pick up as we went down. Very FUN!
Another cool part of this tour was the lake in the middle of the mine. They had a light show put to music which was projected on the walls of the mountain. It was pitch black and the lights were fun to watch as we crossed the lake on a boat. April was able to google some more pictures from the tour and some info as well. If you want to see more just check out her blog. This is a place I highly recommend you visit if you ever go to Austria. Pretty awesome place!
