Last night Jared had taken April and the girls to Riverton High to run around the track to get in some exercise. Karah ran one MILE along with him! Much more than her little ole granny can do! Way to go, Boo!!!
Well, Karah apparently was playing on the bleachers and fell and hurt her wrist. She complained and told her mom she thought it was broken and that she needed to go to the doctor. April called to get my opinion as to whether or not to take her in. I hadn't seen it so I didn't know what advice to give April. I told her to just bring Boo home and we could ice it and see how it looked.
It wasn't really swollen so April just gave her some medicine and we sent her to bed with some ice. Boo woke up this morning still complaining of it hurting. I told Ape that I would buzz her over to the nearby Insta Care to get it checked out. April felt bad that she had to go to work and was not able to take her in. She asked me to take some pictures of our adventures at INSTA-CARE so she wouldn't feel left out!
You can see the pain in her eyes :(
The x-ray room really FREAKED her out. We promised her that it would NOT hurt but she still kept her eyes closed REALLY tight the ENTIRE time she was there! When the x-ray machine made the noise...She squeezed her eyes closed even tighter!
Now we just need to wait for the doctor
When the doctor came into the room she instantly asked him, "So, what do you plan on doing to make my arm stop hurting so bad" He chucked at her question and then he explained the x-rays to her and showed her where the bone had "buckled". He called it a buckle fracture. He told her that she will need to wear a brace for a week to make sure that is doesn't swell up. He told her that she will need to keep it on even when she is playing. He also told her that if she keeps it on then the pain will probably go away. Karah got a HUGE smile on her face and she said, "oh yeah...This will be great! Now I can be a kid again." I think she was really concerned with how she would be able to play or go to school with it hurting so bad. What a doll! After her week with the brace she will go back in and get a cast put on for an additional 3-4 weeks.
They printed off a copy of the xrays for her to take home to show to her family and friends at school. She thought that was SOOOO cool! She has been asking me for the past few weeks to see an xray of my foot and now she has some of her very own!!!!
This little girl has sure been through a lot lately. I am so glad that it was just a mild fracture and that I was available to help out April by taking Boo in to the doctor.
When we went into the nearby store to buy some medicine, three different people approached us and asked what had happened to us! With my huge brace on my left leg and now her brace on her left arm, I guess they thought we must have been in a car accident or something. Boo thought it was cool that we had "MATCHING" braces!
Get better quick, Karah! I love you ooodles!!!
