Foot Surgery TAKE TWO.....

September 7, 2010

Well it is finally time for my next foot operation.  I have finally been okay'd to wear NORMAL shoes and now I am crazy enough to do it all over again.  This time the doctor will be doing more extensive surgery to try to straighten out my feet.  He will be removing bunions on both sides of my foot as well as working on my hammer toes.  Oh joy.....this is going to be a fun one!

In the waiting room waiting for my "number" to be called.  Actually they had those beepers that they use in restaurants to inform you that your table is ready.  I was anxiously waiting for my turn!

Poor Howie had to run all the way back to South Jordan for my surgical boot.  The one that was fit to me was WAY too small and I knew (from past experience) that this was VERY important that it fit properly.  He is the best husband to go exchange it so that I would be comfortable.  He is continually doing kind things to make my life easier!  I love him so much.  He got back just in time for me to go into the "cutting" room!

Just out of surgery and sleeping in LA LA land!
 Oh man...these drugs are great.
I have to admit, this surgery was much more tough to recover from.  Much more painful!

At least my toes are NOT as swollen and black and blue
Have you heard the saying....Ruffles have ridges? WELL...My toes have ruffly ridges now! I hope that goes away.  People have commented that they look like little caterpillars or an elephants trunk!  VERY FUNNY guys!!!
I was suppose to have a pin coming out of the top of each of my toes. He was able to just do internal pins on all but my pinky toe.  I will get those pins surgically removed in February sometime.
I can see why I am in so much stinkin' pain. The doctor did a TON of work on my poor foot. When Howie saw this for the first time he just about passed out. It made him sick to his stomach

The doctor took out a knuckle from each of my toes. I hope they heal smoother than they look now. I will have some FUNKY tan lines when I go to Hawaii with these stubby bumpy toes!
Pins and screws in each toe....can I say OUCH now?
The worse part of all of this, AND the part I am the most scared about is REMOVING THE STITCHES! There are a TON of them and I know from past experience (my last surgery) IT HURTS LIKE A BUGGER.

Seriously I would rather do the entire surgery over again if I just didn't have to go through the stiches being removed. I asked if they could give me a local anesthetic but he just said NO! HOW RUDE! It hurt so bad last time and NOW I HAVE DOUBLE THE STITCHES! I am going to load up on Percacet that Friday morning so I hopefully WON'T feel a thing
Can't believe how BLACK my ankle is. Kinda creepy looking. My ankle is also about three times its normal size!

This surgery was much harder to recover from.  It was a little more scary than the last one as well.  I sat up the night before and watched the entire surgery on YouTube.  I thought that was a bright idea so that I could actually see what the doctor would be doing.  Let me tell you,  the videos on youtube are pretty graphic.  I like those kind of gory things but when you realize that they are going to do it on YOU....it is not so cool.  I had told my doctor how I watched the surgery on the internet and he thought I was NUTS!  He was actually surprised that it was even available to watch.  He then commended me for coming in that morning.  He said after watching the actual proceedure - ANYONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would cancel the surgery.  He then told me that it was a pretty aggressive surgery and told me how much harder it would be to recover.  He told me all of this just minutes before I was wheeled into the operating room.  NICE GUY!  I was NERVOUS that's for sure.  BUT I SURVIVED!

It is now four months since my surgery (yes I am WAY behind on my blog) and I am doing well.  My foot has healed up quite nicely and I am going in a few weeks to get my pins removed.  The doctor explained that it is a simple surgical proceedure where they just cut the tops of my toes and remove them.  Then I get to wear my surgical boot for two weeks and THEN IT IS COMPLETE!  :)  :)  :)  So happy to finally have it over.  I am able to wear normal shoes (except my Pumps) and I am able to walk with no pain.   YAY!!!!

Happy 50th B-day

September 5, 2010

I can't believe the BIG 5-0 is here.  I always use to think that was SOOOOO old and now I am here and I have to admit....IT IS OLD!  I feel it,  that's for sure.  Steve was a Busy Bee early Sunday morning while I was still fast asleep in bed.
I woke to this HUGE "yellow" birthday surprise
He decorated our house in YELLOW for my birthday celebration.  MY FAVORITE COLOR  :)
50 yellow balloons for this "OLD FOGIE!"  And I can't forget to mention our famous Pineapple  :)  Kind of a private joke between the two of us.  I wonder how much this one cost!

So many balloons we almost lifted off the ground.  Karah said that if we hooked them to our house then it could fly like in the movie "UP"
Howie spoiling me once again!  He has a habit of doing that to me.....ALL THE TIME!
YEAH! I always wanted one of these. Now I can start on my HUGE project

Another surprise awaited me OUTSIDE!  Compliments of my little sister.
My "CRAZY" yet "THOUGHTFUL" little sister, Teresa came and decorated my home with her family

Karah was MORTIFIED with all of this toilet paper hanging on our porch!  She kept begging us to take it down.  She was so concerned that someone might see it and laugh at us.  She DID NOT like this prank ONE BIT!!!!  Lyss on the other hand LOVED it.  She ran up and down through the balloons just laughing and dancing around!  These kids are so different!
I had to call and bawl Teresa out for not inviting me to go toilet papering with her. WHAT WAS SHE THINKING?   All I can say is.....PAYBACKS  Teresa!!!!!!! Except I will use much more than four rolls of TP on your house
She also gave me an ECONOMY style hearing aid...I am taking this to Billings with me. I think our customers might get a kick out of it. VERY FUNNY
Crazy glasses and listening device....
Eeeeh...what's that you say?  Speak up Karah,  I can't heeeaaarrrr you!

The girls got the styrofoam from my gift and made some SPECIAL confetti.  They were pretty proud of their invention....Oh how I love messes  :)
HAPPPY BIRTHDAY Grandma T

Later on that day the boys and Ash came over for a little birthday party celebration.....Let the party begin!
Goofing off with my Lukie....
Not sure what Luke is doing here. Maybe screaming...HAPPY BIRTHDAY Grandma T

Luke talking with his new little brother or sister and giving kisses.  It is going to be fun watching Luke and Brayden with their new addition.

Remember the massive amount of balloons that I got for my Birthday?  NOW it is time to play!

HELIUM FUN!

Here are some crazy little videos of my family playing with the balloons.  I couldn't get them all to load but we had a great time with our Helium birthday voices!  I love my crazy family!

Great  50th birthday!  Thanks to my wonderful family!  I love you all!
