The Joy of Spring.....

Spring is BY FAR my favorite season of the year. There is nothing quite like the beauty of that season. After a long, cold winter the freshness of Spring is evident in the beautiful flowers that randomly start popping up in my yard.

I have ALWAYS loved working in the yard and watching the beautiful plants grow and develop into a work of art.

Spring flowers are my favorite and I always get so "pumped" when I see the very first blooms of the year.
These were taken several weeks ago and I now have a lot of daffodils popping up as well, but the crocus flower is probably my favorite. Ususally they bloom even when the snow is still on the ground. SO PRETTY!
The girls have been living with us the past month or so and when I went out to clean out the flower beds they both wanted to help out.

They even had their own little garden gloves....

Alyssa has a HUGE problem lately with following directions, so she refused to get dressed. Once she saw Karah out digging in the dirt she was frantically trying to dress herself so that she could join her. She was definitely NOT a happy camper when she saw that we DID NOT wait for her. She really cracks me up sometimes. She's pretty stubborn until you are actually doing something that interests her.

Karah helped me get rid of our fall flowers which I neglected to clear out last October. I am usually pretty good about preparing my yard for the winter BUT since I have been married to Howie I have BETTER THINGS TO DO! Seriously I really negelcted my yard this past year and it is going to take a TON of work to get it back to looking even half way decent. MY POOR NEIGHBORS have to look at this mess I CALL MY YARD!!!

The girls dug in the dirt and cleared out the leaves

Who needs toys for these kids when you have DIRT to entertain them for hours?

They found lots of cool bugs. They saw a centipede, a lady bug and this earthworm. Karah instantly wanted to go fishing the moment she found it. PRETTY SOON BOO....A fishin' we will go!!!

She asked me if I would cut the worm in half so that Lyssi could see how it will stay alive and still wiggle.

I wish I had a video clip of Alyssa's response to me cutting it in half. She was giggling and jumping around because now she could have a worm and Karah can have one too.

I love watching these two play together and I especially love to eavesdrop on their little conversations together. It reminds me so much of April and Ashlee when they were small. I love how their little minds work. Karah had mentioned when she saw the centipede that she thought if we could cut off it's legs then they would still walk around because if you cut a worm in half it still wiggles around. She really wanted me to try it on the poor innocent centipede. I said NO! Those bugs kind of creep me out a bit! I just leave them alone and they'll go home......Dragging all of their feet behind them!
At least the girls had a great time working and cleaning up the backyard. They kept asking me to give them another job! " Please Grandma T give me another job now! What can I do??? "

Surprisingly they were a HUGE help this day. They really worked HARD! It is a joy to have them in my home. I am so happy that everything is working out so well for these two sweethearts. Karah LOVES school....They LOVE AMY their babysitter.....They are making lots of new FRIENDS......They love their teachers at church.......They are really adjusting well to their move here. LIFE IS GOOD!
Thanks for all of the help girls. I love you
