Money has been a bit tight because of how slow the hearing aid business has been lately but that did not stop him! He decided to use some free passes he had accumulated over the past year and take me to Mexico for a few days. His idea at first was to take off that moment - but we couldn't get a flight out. The next free flight would be early the next morning. That worked for me because I had no idea we'd be going anywhere so I was NOT prepared!
Hey where are the grand kids to pop our bubbles?
We flew into SanDiego and headed to Mexico.....
Steve's friend told him about this spot not too far from the California border.
It was pretty windy and chilly when we first got there but it warmed up the next day. There was a walkway to get to our room and for some reason the wind would come blowing through there and we would absolutely freeze each time we headed to our room. Not sure why! We would race up as fast as we could to get out of the cold. BUUURRR!
The view from our room......
This was the view from the door to our room. Notice NO PEOPLE! It seemed as though we were the only people visiting this area. Strange! It probably had something to do with the problems that were on the news about all of the drugs and violence in Mexico. I know when we called to book the flight the person we talked with said they were warning people to STAY AWAY for their safety.
The first day we were there not many people were around. It was as though we had our own private beach. Very Pretty! The next day there was a wedding on the beach and it really filled up. There were four wheelers and horses you could ride right along the waters edge.
We were told we could use the pool area on the top floor of the hotel. They said there were protective walls around to keep it extra warm. We headed right up to relax and CHILL in the sun. There was a beautiful view from 17 floors up!
We laid around on these cushioned beds and basically napped for hours. AAAaaahhhhhh! Just what I needed.
The next day we headed to the "lower" pools and it was much better there. Steve had gotten too much sun so he decided to go work out in the exercise room while I laid out. Notice.....Still NO PEOPLE!
This picture cracked me up because I noticed something floating in the water and when I went over to get a closer look I found a DUCK!!!!!! What! They followed us from Utah! For any of you that do not know this......I can't stand ducks! They make such a mess in my pool in our backyard. I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of them. Now I come on a little reprieve and find this one floating around. I can't believe it! Where is my sling shot when I need it?
Just another shot of our pool.......This place was very relaxing.
This hotel was actually really nice and we couldn't figure out why no one was around. Howie enjoyed this beautiful exercise room all by himself with no other STINKY bodies around. (except his) It was a beautiful facility.
Steve stayed out of the sun pretty much after the first day. He got this sunburn after about an hour. (I say he was only out a half an hour but he insists it was much longer than that) He was BEAT RED! He had the funniest lines. You can kind of see them on this picture. Boy did he ever peel when we got home a few days later.
The sunsets were gorgeous and soooo peaceful.
One of my favorite things is the sound of the beach with the waves crashing down. There is something very calming about it. I could sit for hours just listening to the water and watching the sun settle in the sky. I loved our long walks along the beach hand in hand with the man of my dreams.
My eternal friend and companion.....
Thanks for a relaxing and enjoyable trip. You are the best husband out there. I found a gem when I found you. Seriously.....You are simply amazing.
As we arrived at the airport to leave to come home I saw these bushes with these beautiful fluffy soft blossoms. I don't know what type of flower it is but I thought they were very pretty. I almost smuggled one home but thought I may get arrested at the security check point. :)
Thanks again for the nice trip Howie.
I love you!

How fun just to take off and relax! I think that flower at the end looks like the pink clover that Horton has in the movie Horton Hears a Who! I've never seen one before but that's what I'd imagine they would look like! Isn't it crazy that no one else ignored the warnings and joined you guys in Mexico? Looks like you had the place to yourself-more importantly, I am glad you didn't get hurt!
